About Hollands Duurzaam
Hollands Duurzaam is an independent energy label advisory firm based in Woerden, the Netherlands. No call centre and no marketplace: you get one dedicated advisor, Mark Saurens, who inspects your home himself, does the calculation himself and registers the label himself in EP-online. More than 750 registered energy labels now carry our name. Clients rate us 4.9 out of 5 across 67 Google reviews.
One advisor, from first phone call to registered label
At many providers your request lands on a platform, which then passes the inspection on to whichever advisor happens to be nearby. We work differently. The person you speak to on the phone is the person standing in your living room a few days later, and the same person who does the calculation afterwards.
That removes the handovers where information gets lost. And it means that if a question comes up later, from your estate agent or a buyer, you speak to someone who has actually seen your home.
Mark has been working in the sustainability sector since 2022.
“Clearly experienced and knowledgeable. Friendly and tidy too, which matters when someone has to walk through your entire house for an energy label. Punctual as well, and stuck to every agreement.”
Rick H. · Google review, translated from DutchIndependent, so no stake in the advice
We do not sell insulation, solar panels or heat pumps, and we do not work on behalf of an installer. So we have no interest whatsoever in a particular measure coming out of the calculation.
Every energy label comes with free improvement advice. That advice is simply what the calculation shows: which measure has the greatest effect on your label and your energy use. If you want to go deeper, we also offer tailored energy advice.
What we are certified for
A valid energy label is not something you can produce yourself. It may only be issued by a certified energy performance advisor, who calculates using the statutory NTA 8800 method and registers the result in EP-online, the official register run by the Dutch government agency RVO. We are registered to do exactly that.
BRL 9500 certified
We work under the official assessment guideline for residential energy performance advice. This is a legal requirement for issuing official energy labels. Read more about BRL 9500.
InstallQ recognised
Recognised by InstallQ, the independent quality body that manages BRL certifications in the installation and energy sector.
AVEPA member
Member of AVEPA, the trade association for energy performance advisors. Our files are audited periodically by the certifying body.
How an inspection works
An energy label is not a desk exercise. The method requires the advisor to establish and document the actual situation on site. Here is how we do it:
- On-site inspection, 60 to 90 minutes. We measure the property, examine roof, facade, floor and glazing, and record the installations: boiler or heat pump, ventilation, solar panels.
- Everything is photographed. Every input value must be traceable afterwards. So we photograph type plates, insulation thicknesses and the code on the spacer bar of your glazing.
- We track down your quality declarations. If you have invoices or product details for insulation, glazing or installations, we find the matching BCRG quality declaration. That allows the actual tested values to be used instead of the unfavourable default values, which regularly makes a full label class of difference.
- Calculation and registration. The inspection goes through certified calculation software, after which the label is registered in EP-online. Usually within a few working days, or within 24 hours if you need it urgently.
Why that legwork matters: if an advisor cannot substantiate something, NTA 8800 prescribes a default value, and those are deliberately unfavourable. Taking the trouble to gather evidence therefore produces a fairer and often better label. We do this as standard, at no extra cost.
