Looking up, checking or requesting an energy label usually mean the same thing: finding out which label is officially registered for an address. That is free, because every valid energy label is stored in the national EP-Online register of the RVO. You see an energy class from A (very efficient) to G (least efficient), with the registration date and until when the label is valid. A residential label is valid for ten years; that period starts on the property survey date, not the registration date. Once those ten years have passed, the label no longer counts when selling or renting.
